Poggenpohl presents the new +ARTESIO concept

At the recent Eurocucina furniture exhibition in Milan, Poggenpohl presented its new +ARTESIO concept developed in collaboration with Hamburg-based star architect and designer Hadi Teherani. Taking a leap away from the fitted kitchens typically found in the industry, +ARTESIO is an all-embracing solution in an architectural melting pot fusing furniture design, walls, floor and ceiling.

The concept intends to build a visual bridge between cooking and living, thereby embracing the three dimensions of floor, wall and ceiling. The latter is visually defined by a "function arch" that integrates all of the elements necessary for lighting, ventilation and sound.

A design grid of 130 millimeters brings together louvred wall and base units in a horizontally linear fashion. The uniform style is based on a newly developed type of carcass with identical front and side sections. A further design element is the stainless steel band that extends around the structure of the walls with their exquisite wooden surfaces.

Cooking and eating go hand-in-hand with this concept, and as such, a dining table, matching chairs and benches in dark pine are available from Poggenpohl. The horizontally stitched upholstery follows the 130 millimeter grid of the louvred wall.

Ideally, the +ARTESIO kitchen would come into play as the architecture of a building or home is being planned, but it is so flexible that it can also be integrated into an existing home.

+ARTESIO will be available from Poggenpohl in early 2011.
